My kids have stacks & stacks of toys. Toys that do crazy, cool things. But we all know that a lot of times it is the simpler things that hold our children’s attention, & I am sharing my three go-tos for good, cheap fun for kids…

Balloons are often saved for special occasions, but why? Kids lovvve balloons! We have a whole stash of regular balloons, balloon animal kits (that are surprisingly easy to make), & rocket balloons. These balloons are inexpensive, & the pumps that they come with are a lifesaver! Someone gave us rocket balloons as a gift the one time, & we love them! They make a loud noise & fly around the room & are reusable 🙂
I am not sure why all kids love bubbles, but it seems to be a universal thing. Matteo (who is 5 years old) still lovvves bubbles. These little bubble containers are great for play dates or for kids who are prone to spilling their container. The other great bubble option is Fubbles. They make containers that do not spill! I got them for both of the boys last year, & I am very impressed that they can blow the bubbles without dumping them.
Watercolors (in the tub)
Forget bath crayons, markers, & paints… they do not wash off like they say they will (especially if you don’t scrub them off immediately). BUT, watercolors do wash off easily! I picked up a few trays of the watercolor sets at the dollar spot at Target, & the boys love using them in the tub! They can dip their brush right in the water, then they can paint the walls of the tub or even themselves as much as they want! They can treat it like face paint with a shower mirror, & they think it is hilarious to be able to paint my arms while I reach over the tub to wash them.
