As a work from home mom, I never feel fully organized. I am always worried that I will miss a doctor’s appointment, a deadline, or a special event for my child. We have had a few close calls, but luckily my iPhone keeps me in check.
Here are my 5 favorite apps for keeping my life together:
Evernote is basically a super organized, virtual notebook. You can access it via the mobile app, online, or even download a desktop version. You can buy even buy a physical Evernote notebookthat then makes your text searchable within Evernote! Evernote allows you to make multiple “notebooks” to keep everything organized. You can upload images, write text, & set reminders to keep yourself organized. I am completely dependent on Evernote for jotting down post ideas, cute phrases my kids say, & keeping track of great resources.
Google is taking over the world… or at least my world. I use Gmail, Google Calendar (to sync calendars with my entire family), Google Drive to back-up photos, & Google Docs instead of Microsoft Word (I don’t even have Microsoft Office on my new computer). If something is not in my Google Calendar it does not exist. I love having the peace of mind knowing that my photos are backed up in Google Drive. And transitioning to Google Docs was a breeze.
I love pictures. I love taking pictures, looking at pictures, & sharing pictures. I love having physical prints & photo albums, but up until recently I never had any physical prints despite having thousands of digital pictures. Chatbooks was my solution. They automatically send you a 60 page photo album based on your Instagram photos for only $6 per book (shipped). Check out my experience & get your first book free here.
If you haven’t caught on by now, I like automation & simplicity. There is just never enough time in the day to do everything I need to do, & if you work at all with social media you know how time consuming (yet necessary) it is. Buffer allows you to easily schedule social media posts to numerous accounts, & they will automatically schedule them to post at a time that works the best for each account! (Bonus: they also have an incredible email newsletter with tons of awesome tips)
This is a handy little app that not many people know about, but I am here to let you in on this awesome secret… The IFTTT (If This Then That) app allows you to create endless “recipes” to make the internet work for you. Some of my favorite recipes include getting a text message when certain people email me, posting native Twitter images automatically when I post to Instagram, & automatically adding new blog posts to Buffer for me. Check out a huge list of awesome recipes here.
