I have been using WordPress for a long time now, but here are three plugins that I just discovered (and immediately installed) in this past month.
- Pretty Links – Prepare to fall in love… The Pretty Links plugin allows you to create your own customized links in an incredibly simple way. Forget bit.ly and all of the other link generators… just use Pretty Links. This plugin is especially helpful when you are promoting links on social media. I created a Pretty Link that sends people to an Amazon Affiliate link. When I wanted to promote that link on Periscope, I just told everyone to go to MomShar.com/dash to check it out! The link sends you directly to Amazon, and it is easy to remember, easy to type in, easy to share. (Shout out to HeyDonna.com for telling me about this awesome plugin!)
- Imsanity – Huge image sizes make your website run slowly, and they take up storage that you are paying for. Of course, you could go edit down all of your pictures before uploading them to your WordPress site; but if you are like most of us, you simply upload and then use WordPress to shrink it down before inserting the image into your post. This means that your site is still hosting that huge image file. However, if you install the Imsanity plugin, it will alter your uploaded images automatically so that you are not wasting space and your website stays speedy. You can fully customize this plugin to make sure that image sizes and quality are what you want them to be.
- Copy Protect – WP-CopyProtect is a plugin that keeps people from copying and potentially stealing your blog posts. There are ways around it if the person trying to take your content is super determined and computer savvy, but this simple plugin is a great first line of defense. If you have had an issue with people taking your content without your permission, this is worth checking out!
